The Assessor’s primary role it to maintain a process to ensure that the Village’s Annual Assessment Roll is kept fair, equitable, and up to date.  The Assessment Department is responsible for discovering, identifying, listing and valuing all tangible properties within the jurisdiction of the Village of Westbury. These responsibilities include maintaining all assessment inquiries, updating ownership on parcels, billing addresses, assessment values, classifications, and various non-taxable exemptions as they occur during the tax year.  The Assessor also reviews and provides an assessment on the Payment In Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) Agreements that come before the Village Board.

Filing Grievances – The grievance period for the February 1, 2025 Tentative Roll is now over. Grievances are filed up until the 3rd Tuesday of the Month of February.

Tax Exemptions

The last day to file exemption paperwork for the 2025-2026 Tax Year was on January 2, 2025.

To file exemption paperwork for the 2026-2027 tax year or for general questions and meeting requests, please email the Village Assessor at scorte@villageofwestbury.org.  You may also come Village Hall to pick-up your exemption paperwork.  The Village will send out renewals for clergy, churches, seniors, and firefighter’s exemptions on file,  However all exemption filing paperwork must be returned by the deadline and it is the filers responsibility to ensure it is received by the Assessor by the filing deadline. Veteran’s Exemption paperwork does not have to be renewed annually unless there is a change of ownership on the property.
