The Westbury Public Safety Commission sponsored a Bicycle safety Rodeo. The participants were shown how to ride their bikes safely and given bicycle safety helmets. |
Village Tree Lighting Festivities The weather outside was delightful, and the fire inside is so delightful, and if you've no place to go, let it snow . . let it snow . . let it snow. It did not snow this year and there was a nice turnout.

MAYOR ERNEST STRADA VISITS DURAZZANO
Mayor Strada and a delegation from Westbury visited Durazzano, Italy to formalize the "unione" of the two communities as sister villages.

Italian Heritage Festival:

The Italian Heritage Festival was held at the Village Community Center/Recreation Complex. Mayor Strada is joined by local residents dressed as famous Italians. |

WTC Memorial American Flag Quilt Project 2002:
|
Mayor Ernest Strada and Govenor George Pataki joined the Westbury Cub Scout Pack 233 leaders and friends to view their quilt. The flag is made up of close to 5,000 6 inch square patches and stars memorializing those lost in the attack on the World Trade Center. |

Just in case you missed it Westbury 233 Cub Scouts' quilt flag was featured during opening ceremony at the September 21, 2002 NY Mets baseball game cheered by 37,000 fans. |
Members of the Village of Westbury Recreation Department staff joined volunteers at one of the weekend "Quilt-a-thons to sew the patches together. The finished flag measures 28 x 46 feet and weighs 125 pounds. |

Musicians from the LI Traditional Music Association entertained at the Quaker Fair. |
There was more music at the Westbury B.I.D.'s Fall Festival and Street Fair. A quartet, standing on the corner, sang to the crowds at the fair. They are members of the Nassau Mid-Island Chapter of the Barber Shop Harmony Society and meet every Tuesday at 8:00 PM in Westbury at Winthrop Hall, 555 Advent Street. |

Children had rides and "celeberties" to meet. The State Farm "Good Neighbear" is surrounded by new friends at the street fair. |
